Project Overview

I was tasked with creating a distinctive logo for ValCo—branded in Cyrillic as “ВалКо”—a construction and repair company. Beyond the mark itself, I invented the company name (drawn from owner Valeriy Boiko’s initials) and coined the slogan “Грамотный ремонт” (“Competent Repair”) to communicate reliability and expertise.

Research & Concept Development

After surveying typical construction-industry logos (tools, rooftops, etc.), I aimed for a friendlier, human touch. The name “ВалКо” (emphasizing the capital “К”) reinforces the personal link to the owner, while the slogan highlights professional workmanship.

Sketching & Ideation

I sketched dozens of ideas—helmets, hammers, building silhouettes—before settling on a stylized worker’s face with a hard hat, safety glasses and a approachable mustache. This icon marries professionalism with warmth.

Vector Design & Color Palette

In Adobe Illustrator, I traced and refined the sketch into a clean vector icon. I chose 100 % cyan for its sense of trust and technical precision. All line weights and curves were fine-tuned so the logo stays crisp from large signage down to tiny favicons.

Typeface Selection & Custom Lettering

For the logotype “ВалКо”, I selected Roboto—a geometric, highly legible sans-serif. I set “ВалКо” in Roboto Bold, paying special attention to the Cyrillic characters “В”, “а”, “л”, “К”, and “о” to ensure uniform stroke weight and harmonious spacing. The slogan “Грамотный ремонт” sits beneath in Roboto Regular.

Composition & Alignment

Rather than rigidly using a grid, I visually aligned icon and text—tweaking positions until they felt balanced. This organic approach enhances the brand’s approachable, hands-on character.

Legibility Testing & Final Polish

I tested the logo in single-color, on dark and light backgrounds, and at very small scales (down to 16 px). Both the worker icon and the bold “ВалКо” remained instantly recognizable.

Mockups & Deliverables

Finally, I showcased the logo on vehicle decals, hard-hat stickers, business cards and workwear. Deliverables include full-vector files (AI, SVG), print-ready PDFs, high-res PNGs and a concise brand-usage guide. The result is a friendly yet authoritative identity that embodies ValCo’s promise of “Competent Repair.”
